Trident has three courses - a one-year course, a one and a half-year course and a two-year course - depending on students' date of admission (either April or October) and class hours. After admittance into the school, students are given a written examination and are interviewed to check their Japanese proficiency and to determine what level of class to place them in. Since the students are placed in a class according to their level, they can improve their Japanese without unnecessary stress. An experienced teacher is assigned to each class of 20 students, checks individual students' Japanese and gives academic guidance.
In class, Japanese is taught from a variety of approaches by using selected, high quality textbooks, with the aim of developing the four skills of Japanese - "reading", "writing", "listening" and "speaking" - in a balanced way. In addition, students can join a preparation class for The Japanese Language Proficiency Test and Examination for Japanese University Admission for International Students. Students can study Japanese according to their future goals or interests.
